Dear Global Citizen,
You are reading this as you already show a concern about our planet and the need to protect it. I believe every effort towards this matters and each one of us CAN contribute towards it in our own way.
Personally, I was determined to take action to protect my own natural environs when I saw how our rivers no longer had clear crystal waters that I saw as a child, how our forests were degraded and our wildlife under grave threat.
I was inspired by United Nations Earth Charter where in its preamble it states that –
‘We stand at a critical moment in Earth’s history, a time when humanity must choose its future. As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise. To move forward we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms we are one human family and one Earth community with a common destiny.”
Taking a step in the direction of protecting our natural heritage, Sanskara Development Trust was established in 2002 in India. Today it is one of the many organisations dedicated to protecting our biodiversity.
There are many important conservation projects that we undertake and work towards achieving our goals with the help of a committed team.
Sanskara now moves into its 12th year, having worked together with local communities, government authorities, both national and international organisations and individuals to create a long term protection for endangered landscapes, including the initiation of 3 conservation reserves and a wildlife sanctuary in the State of Uttarakhand.
As we continue to work towards securing corridors for wildlife and creating awareness for its protection in India, we request the participation of many more individuals and organizations to help in the conservation of our shared natural heritage.
